Post-University Uncertainty Feat. Summer Shirt from Pull and Bear

Hey Everybody!

I hope all is well with you and that you're having a great day.

Before I begin, I would like to give a quick shout out to Freddie, for providing the awesome pictures from this post. Click here to visit his website and click here to visit his Instagram!

Today, I wanted to talk about something I'm currently struggling with - the direction my life is heading in. Having just recently finished my degree, it's only natural that you'd wonder "What's next?". Despite applying for a handful of graduate programmes and working vigorously towards a first class honours degree in the last year, I still feel clueless about what I'm going to do with my life.

Before I talk too much about my current struggles, I wanted to tell you about one of my current favourite shirts and recent-ish purchases. This floral and leaf shirt is from Pull and Bear and  I bought it along with the jumpsuit I am wearing in my blog's relaunch post and in some Instagrams. These were just cheeky purchases I made in the midsts of final exams when I was in severe need of retail therapy!

I absolutely love the clothes from Pull and Bear. They're cool, current and buying them doesn't break the bank. I paired this super casual and flowy shirt with a pair of jeans from Top Shop. This is another shop I could rave about, especially in relation to their jeans. Being 5'2, it's a difficult task finding jeans that fit perfectly. However, whenever I try on a pair of Top Shop petit jeans, this problem suddenly vanishes.

I'd also pair this shirt with white jeans or leggings if I had them. Frankly, I don't know how long the white would stay white.

I feel like things are a lot easier for people who study veterinary medicine or teaching. Once they've finished they're automatically a teacher or a vet, whereas I have a lot more work to do figuring out who and what I am going to be. Completing a course in Agri-Business gives me lots of options. Accountancy, farm advisory and marketing are all paths I could take, but I don't know how to go about figuring out whether its the right road for me. I've always enjoyed the idea of marketing and managing and sharing content online which I think could be a good path.

At the moment I am leaning towards the idea of taking a gap year. I put intense pressure on myself last year and think I deserve a bit of a break. I also feel that I'd like to improve and develop myself in the next year. Maybe I could finally get my full drivers licence, travel, volunteer or pick up a part-time job. Then I might be ready to pursue a career ladder I'm interested in. Hopefully, everything will work out alright!

Have you had any times where you've been a bit uncertain of where your life is going?
How did you manage it?

  1. Everything will definitely turn out in the end, Ellen! It's always tough trying to sit through these periods of change, but I think a gap year is a wonderful idea! So many opportunities out there now that you're finished with Uni (Dobby is a free elf, haha!) And that shirt is so cute! Loved this post xx

I hope you're right about everything working out! I just need to sit down and make a list of things I'd like to get done this year though!

  2. Finishing university is a tricky period of time, but having gone through it - everything does work out OK! Don't put too much pressure on yourself, and keep communicating with loved ones xxx
