5 Things to do when you're feeling sad!09:00:00
Unfortunately, life isn't perfect. Some days we are happy, and then all of a sudden it seems like our lives can turn around in a matter of seconds. I've been a bit down in the dumps lately if I'm honest. Which is part of the reason that I didn't want to blog too much. Anyways, I thought that for today's post I'd compile a list of things that might cheer you up when life isn't quite going your way! I really hope you enjoy this one!
1. Have a Pamper Evening!
We all need to give ourselves a pampering from time to time, but it is definitely much needed in particular when we are feeling sad. Light the candles, put on a face mask, throw a fantastically vibrant Lush Bath Bomb into the tub and sit down and relax. You could even treat yourself to a cocktail or chocolates in the tub. Forget about the world and focus on the soft warm feeling of the bath water. Hopefully this will make you feel better!
2. Get Take-Out and Watch a Film!
For me, take-out is definitely a go to if I am feeling really sad. I get the idea that I need to eat my feelings. Usually I like the taste of good food and it makes me feel good, but I don't see anything wrong with getting a take-away when you haven't had the best day. A film will usually accompany a take-away, typically something light-hearted or a disney film that'll just instantly make me smile!
3. Catch up with a friend you haven't seen for awhile!
This can entail meeting up with a friend for coffee or just simply messaging them on Facebook and having a wee catch up! When I was last feeling upset, I messaged a friend I hadn't talked to for awhile. We ended up having a few conversations for the following consecutive days! The good thing about this is that it'll distract you from being sad because you've missed this person and want to hear all about the wonderful things they've been up to!
4. Bake some cupcakes!
For me, baking is therapeutic. If you're not a kitchen goddess and more of a crafty person, why not paint some designs and illustrations? Getting involved in one of your hobbies will most definitely cheer you up and hopefully allow you to forget about that source of sadness.
5. Go outside, take a walk and get some fresh air!
If there is anything I believe that works like a charm when it comes to relieving sadness, it would be a good breeze of fresh air and exercise. Whenever I exercise, it gives me time and space to myself and allows me to reflect and think but at the same time I also focus on what I am doing. So if you have the time, why not get out, go on a run or take a brisk walk, it could have lots of benefits!
DISCLAIMER: Please be aware that if you are feeling periods of sadness and being down on a regular basis that it is probably best to contact a doctor. The ways to relieve sadness in this blogpost were intended to be little pick me ups to make you feel better. We all get down from time, to time, but please talk to somebody if you are feeling this way often!
